LMS, Modern Language Teachers' Association of Sweden was founded in 1938. The association has a membership of 4500 language teachers from all levels of the Swedish school system.
There are 25 regional LMS chapters across the country. These regional chapters arrange in-service training for language teachers, e.g. lectures, seminars, book exhibitions etc. One weekend each spring LMS arranges an Annual Conference (LMS Språkdagar), with an attendance of appr. 1000 language teachers. During the conference a great number of plenary talks, lectures and workshops are offered. There is also an extensive exhibition of language teaching materials. The Annual General Meeting of LMS takes place during the conference.
LMS publishes two journals ; Lingua, 4 issues per year to all members of LMS and Modern Languages (Moderna Språk), which is offered to the LMS membership at a reduced price. For further information, please contact maria.allstrom@telia.com.
